วง The Country Gentlemen เป็นวงดนตรีบลูกราสที่ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 1950 ในวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี. ออกแผ่นเสียงและทัวร์คอนเสิร์ตจนกระทั่ง ชาลี วอลเลอร์ (Charlie Waller) สมาชิกของวงในยุคก่อตั้งเสียชีวิตเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2004 ผลงานคลาสสิคของ วง The Country Gentlemen ตั้งแต่ ค.ศ. 1960-1964 มีชาร์ลี วอลเลอร์ เล่น กีตาร์ จอห์น ดัฟฟี่ (John Duffey) เล่น แมนโดลิน เอ๊ดดี้ แอดค๊อก (Eddie Adcock) เล่นแบนโจ และทอม เกรย์ (Tom Gray) เล่น เบส ซึ่งเป็นหนทางทีนำวงไปสู่ The International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor ในปี ค.ศ. 1996

วงเริ่มเมื่อวันที่ 4 กรกฎาคม ปี ค.ศ. 1957 เพื่อเล่นแทนที่วงของ บัซ บัสบี้ บายู บอย ที่เสียสมาชิกไปจากอุบัติเหตุทางรถยนต์ สมาชิกแรกสุดคือ ชาร์ลี วอลเลอร์ เล่นกีตาร์และร้องนำ, จอห์น ดัฟฟี่ เล่น แมนโดลินและร้องประสานเสียงสูง (Tenor vocals), บิล เอ็มเมอร์สัน เล่นแนโจและร้องประสานเสียงในช่วงกลาง (Baritone Vocals) และ ลาร์รี่ ลาเฮย์ เล่นเบส หลังจากปรับวงกันนิดหน่อย สมาชิกของวงก็เปลี่ยนเป็น ชาร์ลี วอลเลอร์, จอห์น ดัฟฟี่, เอ็ดดี้ แอดค๊อก เล่น แบนโจ และทอมเกรย์ เล่น เบส
